Seda Centrio Hotel is known for serving only the most satisfying culinary specials to Kagay-anons. I’ve tried their healthy lunch buffet, the heavenly Italian creations of Chef Salvatore, and the mouthwatering roast beef special prepared by Chef Alfonso “Funzi” Cortez. This last culinary experience is what I will share with all of you today.
Chef Funzi and the accommodating staff of Seda welcomed my dad and I, along with other guests, at Misto on a quiet May Sunday. We were joined by the hotel’s F&B manager, the witty and funny Mike Gayoso, and the lovely Angela Pupos, Seda’s communications officer. Noel Barrameda, the hotel’s ever active manager, joined us later on.
I did not know what to expect when we arrived at Seda because I had not eaten roast beef for some time. Aside from the fact that it was an expensive meal choice, it was difficult to find a restaurant in Cagayan de Oro that served it the way I wanted it. So, the minute that I saw the roast beef spread on the buffet table, I knew we were in for a totally memorable dining experience.

Before we were served the roast beef, Chef Funzi revealed to us that we were about to taste premium grade Australian roast beef. A cross breed of Black Angus and Wagyu, Rangers Valley Steak is said to be one of the best tasting, most tender high quality beef in the world. This whetted my appetite and I couldn’t wait to get a taste of the roast beef.
Of course, before we got to the main dish, we were served soup and salad. Misto’s different soup varieties are my personal favorites, so I wasn’t surprised when I devoured the Seafood Bisque that was served to us. The aromatic herbs really got to my senses, and the touch of flavored cognac gave me a satisfying feeling.

The salad of greens, with honey mustard dressing, was the perfect soup partner. Seda and Misto makes sure that they serve only fresh greens from local producers.
After the salad, our roast beefs were served. And, boy, did my eyes grow wide with surprise! It was a hearty serving of 250 grams of the finest Australian prime beef! Paired with mashed potato and some vegetable sidings (carrots, eggplant, and zucchini), it was pure heavenly culinary satisfaction. Mouthwatering, juicy, tasty, and all kinds of wonderful. I couldn’t help but admire Chef Funzi’s culinary masterpiece! Best of all, they served it the way I wanted it: medium rare.
Finally, after months of roast beef hibernation, I found what I was looking for at Seda Centrio Hotel’s Misto. While it’s true that it is a bit pricey at Php1350+++ (with soup and salad), it’s totally worth every single peso you shell out. Trust me! It’s premium grade Australian beef, remember?
Since tomorrow is the last Sunday of May, and we are at the tail end of the summer season, why not allow yourself to indulge and enjoy Seda Centrio’s Roast Beef Sunday special.
